Carnival Man by Patrick McGlynn

Carnival man stands on the corner.
With a traveling circus of all who adore him.
He's selling them tickets to come see the big show.
His names on the t-shirts to fatten up the bank roll.
The fans are in a frenzy with a little slight of mind.
They follow the leader and go willfully blind.

Carnival man when he's underneath the bright lights.
The crowd is loud and fired up for another cage fight.
But don't blame him for the hate passed through the family.
Through each generation like an old piece of jewelry.
A little boy watching tv, he don't even understand.
While daddy's crossing up his wires and puts a gun into his hand.

That young boy spent those teenage years.
Training under the guidance of a twisted vicious fear.
I guess some kids get lucky and some never had a chance.
They sit and wonder how God matches the souls with the circumstance.
The streets were filling up with the souls so beaten down.
Before you knew it shots rang out, two bodies hit the ground.

Carnival man says he's not the one to blame.
And to the television stations its just money in the bank.
It's all entertainment and if you live below the line.
Or if you fit the wrong description it doesn't matter if you live or die.
So you say you want a revolution, but no ones really figured it out.
As the carnival man takes his final bow.
